Rules: Roulette
Roulette is the classic casino game. For over 150 years, the game has enticed gamers from all over the world with the smooth running of the wheel and the rattling of the ball creating great anticipation for a big win. Roulette is possibly the game where the most winnings can be come across in the fastest time. Part of the appeal is that no other game involves so much rapid movement of chips around the table.
General Play
Thirty six numbers are spaced around the roulette wheel (0 to 35) giving a variety of bets which can be placed. The Dealer will exchange your cash chips or money for coloured chips. These are yours - don't let anyone else play with them! At the end of play, the Dealer will exchange your chips back into money or cash chips.
At the start of play the Dealer will call: "Place your bets, please!". The maximum and minimum bets will be displayed around the table. Now place your chips around the table. If you want to bet at the other end of the table and you cannot reach, inform the dealer and they will be placed for you. The Dealer will then call: "No more bets, please!". After the ball settles the Dealer will call out the wining colour and the number and then puts a marker over the relevant position so it is clear for all players to see.
Advanced Play
Straight up
The simplest bet: a single number, which pays 35 - 1.
Split
Betting on three numbers is called a Street. The odds are 11 - 1.
A corner is a bet on 4 numbers and has a pay out of 8 - 1.
Placing the chip on the 6 line covers six numbers and gives a pay out of 5 - 1.
Neighbours
A group of numbers positioned next to each other on the wheel are known as neighbours. To place an bet on neighbours, for example 3, 26, 0, 32, 15 ask the dealer for: "Zero and the neighbours" and place 5 chips down.
Even Chances
As well as t
- Red or Black
- Odd or Even
- High or Low (19 - 36 or 1 - 18)
On these bets if zero comes up then you lose half your stake and the other half can be used to play again.
Dozens or Columns
The final type of bet is dozens or columns and these pay out at 2 - 1. There are three dozens to choose from, the first being 1 - 12, the second is 13 - 24 and the third is 25 - 36. Alternatively you can bet on the columns at the end of the table. If one of the numbers in the column that you chose comes up you get a pay out of 2 - 1. A zero coming up with a dozens or columns bet means you lose!
